Our community is exploding – in a good way, of course. As we enter the summer months, the number of workouts and routes recorded daily is sky-rocketing. We’re ecstatic with the new members we welcome every day and strive to make our products intuitive and beautiful to allow you to focus on what matters most – your workout. With that said, we’ll be highlighting some of our features (both in the app and on our website) to make sure you are utilizing everything we have to offer.

Without further ado – meet Map Pins.

In December, our iOS apps received a whole new look. Included in this refresh was the addition of Map Pins – a community-based approach to document helpful locations during workouts. Drop pins for bathrooms, water fountains, trailheads and more. Help your friends and family by dropping a Map Pin if you find something new.

Dropping a Map Pin is simple. After starting a GPS-based workout, select ‘Pause Workout.’ Below your stats menu, you will see a small pin icon. Select this and use the scroll bar on the bottom navigation panel to choose which Map Pin you would like to drop. You can select from the following options:

  • Water
  • Restroom
  • Public Parking
  • Trail Head
  • Public Phone
  • Medical Care
  • Bike Shop
  • Running Shop
  • Leash-Free Park
  • Dog Waste Bags
  • Dog-Friendly Restaurant

To enter the current Map Pins contest, you must drop a pin from the MapMyFitness app during your next workout. To drop a pin, simply pause your workout and click the pin icon on the map screen. Ends 6/30/14.

All map pins are public to others, so please make sure any information you’re leaving along the way is useful. If you see a Map Pin that is not correct – select the “!” and report it to our team. You can flag Map Pins as inappropriate or invalid.
