Think Pink this October

Posted on October 15th, 2013 in Blog.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. With one in eight women receiving a breast cancer diagnosis at some point in their lives, it’s important to raise awareness about the disease and educate on prevention.

Here at MapMyFitness, we are not doctors, but we strongly promote an active lifestyle. Women who exercise regularly are up to 30 percent less likely than those who don’t to develop the most common types of breast cancer, research shows.

To aid in certain cancer prevention, The American Cancer Society recommends adults should get at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity each week (or a combination of these), preferably spread throughout the week. Small substitutes throughout the day can add up – take the stairs rather than the elevator, bike to work, or exercise at lunch with coworkers.

We have been asked by our community on how they can give back this month, and have teamed up with yurbuds to add a little pink to your next workout. For the entire month of October, 10% of every pair of Inspire Pink Earphones sold will be donated in support of breast cancer awareness on behalf of MapMyFitness and yurbuds.

What pink gear are you sporting this month? Leave comments below, we’d love to know!
