As you may know, World Health Day will be celebrated this year on April 7th. High blood pressure is this year’s theme – a priority area of public health concern in the world. Though it affects more than one in three adults worldwide, the risk of developing high blood pressure is both preventable and treatable through regular physical activity and maintaining a healthy body weight. Those who exercise frequently decrease their chances of having high blood pressure – that’s where we come in.
We’re calling on our community to join us in celebrating World Health Day this weekend by competing in our Battle of the Cities contest. Beginning Friday, April 5th, simply log any workout before 11:59pm CST on Sunday to add a point for your city. The more workouts you log, the more points you’ll contribute. We will have a Gold, Silver and Bronze winner from each city category. The city categories are based on population size – small cities (under 50K), mid-size cities (between 50k and 300k), and large cities (over 300k). The cities with the most points will win, and will be announced Thursday, April 11th.
Trust us when we say you won’t want to miss out on our prizes:
- Gold: Every person in your city (that has logged a workout) will win a 3 month free MVP membership + $10 gift card to the MapMyFitness Marketplace ($30 value). You heard us right – everyone.
- Silver and Bronze: Every person in your city will receive a 1 month free MVP membership.
This is our gift to you for celebrating World Health Day the best way possible – by taking care of your body and staying active.
We may call Austin, Texas, United States home but our users are located all over the world. Our international user base is consistently growing and we’re excited to make this challenge a global event. No city is excluded! Remember, you are not alone in your workout journey and here’s your chance to prove it. Let’s see how many people we can activate and support healthy lifestyles worldwide. It’s as simple as logging a workout – track your next run or manually log your Pilates class at the gym – they all count.
Want a tip from our team? Share your activity through your social media channels to let your friends and family know you’re competing for your city. The more you encourage others in your city to play – the more chances you have to win. So get moving – the points start tallying Friday, April 5th. Good luck!
