March madness may be over, but we recently asked our users to get back in the game with a Fitness Fantasy contest of our own. We took our ‘sweet 16’ fitness goals and asked our community what they wanted to accomplish this year – whether that was summiting a new mountain or walking a mile a day. Through repins on Pinterest, or uploading photos to our Facebook page – your response was heard and we couldn’t be prouder.
Setting goals is tough – everyone has them and they definitely run the gamut as far as challenge level. As we’ve said before, with any goal having a plan is the first step. It’s important to make sure you’ve set a realistic and achievable goal and be prepared with the steps towards achieving what you have set out to do. “Last May I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then I have completely changed my life style. I was overweight and had an unhealthy life style. My daughter got me into cycling. Soon I shed 57 pounds and began running and swimming. I just recently completed two sprint triathlons and feel so good about my accomplishments. My goal is to be able to do a 50-mile bike ride over Memorial Day weekend in southern California. One day I hope to be able to complete a marathon. Perhaps I will be ready for a half marathon in the fall.”
